Calcium Stearate Overview

Calcium stearate, which is classified as a calcium soap, is a carboxylate of calcium and is manufactured by the reaction of calcium oxide and stearic acid.  It is a waxy material with a low solubility in water.

Calcium Stearate Applications 

Calcium Stearate has a range of industrial applications.
  • Used as a masterbatch additive.  It acts as an internal lubricant in the manufacture of both masterbatch and other thermoplastic compounds.
  • Used as a waterproofing agent in concrete admixtures.
  • Used both as an anti-caking agent and mold release agent in rubber processing.
